What is DHI hair transplant?

During the DHI method, hair follicles are first extracted from the donor area before being transplanted directly into the recipient area without the need to cut or place the scalpel using tweezers.

This procedure is performed through the use of the “Choi” pen implanter and offers multiple benefits, such as a higher survival rate of hair follicles and a significantly reduced risk of bleeding / scarring.

Through direct “DHI” hair implantation, the hair roots are positioned with maximum density, allowing for a natural result.

How is the transplant performed with the DHI method?

As with any other hair transplant technique, the first step is a thorough and comprehensive consultation.

During this consultation, the specifics of performing the transplant are defined in agreement between the doctor and the patient. The specifications include the number of grafts required, the coverage of the area where the hair fell and the definition of the front line.

After every detail has been agreed, the procedure can begin.
  • The first step is to shave the donor area: this area is usually found in the back of the head and is designated as a genetically permanent area.
  • Then, both the donor area and the area where the root placement will be applied are anesthetized.
  • After performing the previous step, the extraction and implantation process begins: Initially, during the process, the grafts are taken from the donor area, then the medical staff carefully places the grafts (hair follicles) into the implantator, “Choi pen”.

The following grafts are transplanted directly into the area where sowing is applied, one at a time.

During the whole procedure, special attention is paid to implanting the hair follicles at an angle of 40-45 degrees, in accordance with the angle and natural direction of hair growth, to allow for a totally natural result

What are the benefits of DHI hair transplant?

The benefits of DHI hair transplantation include:

  • High Density: Since the hair transplant is performed directly without the need to open the channels first, the hair is placed with maximum density.
  • The amount of time that grafts spend outside the body is greatly reduced, allowing for high survival rates of transplanted hair follicles. Therefore, the grafts experience less trauma during the procedure, resulting in healthy end results and dense hair.
  • Minimal risk of bleeding at the implantation site.
  • Quick recovery from the procedure: The patient can resume normal activities faster than with other hair transplant methods.
  • The DHI method makes it possible to transplant hair without having to shave it, resulting in greater density, making DHI the perfect solution for patients with longer hair.

Are there any disadvantages of DHI hair transplantation?

Hair transplantation with the DHI method is more expensive than the transplantation with the “FUE” technique.

This is due to the specialized equipment required, as well as the extensive additional training that surgeons and medical technicians must undergo before performing procedures of this type.

Over the following months, the hair will continue to grow naturally and begin to blend with the existing hair producing a completely natural end result.

An important advantage of DHI hair transplant is the fact that the patient can resume normal activities such as swimming or exposure to sunlight much faster than with traditional FUE hair transplant.
